CONDITIONAL SENTENCE

Ø  Conditional Sentence adalah Complex sentence (Kalimat Majemuk) yang dibentuk dari Subordinate clause yang diawali dengan subordinate conjunction if berupa condition (Syarat) memiliki kemungkinan untuk terwujud dimasa depan karena conditionnya realistik untuk dipenuhi dan Main Clause berupa result/consequence (hasil).

Ø  Conditional Sentence dapat di bagi menjadi 4 tipe yaitu,

1.      Conditional Sentence Type 1

Conditional Sentence Type 1 Adalah conditional sentence yang digunakan ketika result/consequence (Hasil) dari condition (Syarat) memiliki kemungkinan untuk terwujud dimasa depan kareana conditionya realitik untuk dipenuhi.

Rumus

If + Condition,Result/Consequence If + Simple Present, (Wiil, Bare infinitive) / imperative

Atau

Result/Consequence + if + Condition (Will + Bare infinitive) / imperative + if + Simple Present

Contoh :

( + )  If You come to my house, I will cook special food.

( - )    He will not come if you are angry with him.

( ? )  If your sister buy that chocolate for you, will you be happy?

2.      Conditional Sentence Type 2

Conditional Sentence Type 2 Adalah Conditional Sentence yang digunakan ketika result/consequence (hasil) dari condition (syarat) tidak memiliki atau hanya sedikit kemungkinan untuk terwujud karena conditionnya tidak mungkin dipenuhi dimasa sekarang (present unreal situation) atau conditionalnya sulit ntuk dipenuhi dimasa depan (unlikely to happen).

Rumus

If + Condition,Result/Consequence If + Simple Present, Would/ Could/ Might + Bare infinitive

Atau

Result/Consequence + if + Condition Would/ Could/ Might + Bare infinitive + If + Simple Present

Contoh           

            ( + )  If I had much money, I would buy a sport car.

( - )     If Devi studied hard, she wouldn’t fail.

            ( ? )  If Andika studied hard, would she pass?

3.      Conditional Sentence Type 3

Conditional Sentence Type 3 adalah conditional sentence yang digunakan ketika ence (hasil) dari condition (syarat) tidak ada kemungkinan terwujud karena conditionnya harus sudah dipenuhi dimasa lalu.

Rumus

If + Condition,Result/Consequence If + Past perfect , Would/ Could/ Might + Have + Past Psticiple

Atau

Result/Consequence + if + Condition Would/ Could/ Might + Have + Past Psticiple + If + Past perfect

Contoh

( + ) If he had driven carefully, he would have not got accident.

( - )  If you hadn’t known the truth, you shouldn’t have spreaded the gossip

( ? )  If he had asked you for forgiveness, would you have forgiven him?

4.      Zero Conditional Sentence

Zero Conditional adalah conditional sentence yang digunakan ketika resul/consequence (hasil) dari condition (syarat) selalu terwujud karena merupakan scientific lact ( kebanaran ilmiah) ata general trunth ( kebenaran umum ) yang merupakan habitat actuality.Bagian dependent clause  ( if + clause ) dapat diawali dengan kata if  atau when.

Rumus

If/ When + Condition, Result/Consequence If/ When + Simple Present, Simple Present

Atau

Result/Consequence + If/ When + Condition Simple Present + If/ When + Simple Present

Contoh

               ( + )  If you dry fruits or vegetables, they lose their nutrient and calorie.

               ( - )  If Andri does not drink after doing exercise, he gets dehydrated.

               ( ? )  If we burn paper, does it become ash?
